strengthen the forest-based economy through the Pradhan Mantri Janjatiya Vikas Mission (PMJVM).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Pradhan Mantri Janjatiya Vikas Mission<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was <\/span><b>launched in 2021-22<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to create a <\/span><b>more organised system for tribal communities<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to process, add value to and market Minor Forest Produce.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The mission seeks to move tribal communities beyond selling raw forest produce by providing them with skills, technology, infrastructure and market linkages.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Objective:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It has the objective to <\/span><b>strengthen the tribal forest economy<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by combining traditional knowledge and locally available resources with modern processing, technology and market access.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This mission provides support at different stages, from collection and processing to marketing.<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Skill development:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Tribal gatherers are trained in scientific harvesting, processing and value addition.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Infrastructure:<\/b> <b><a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/van-dhan-vikas-kendras\/\" target=\"_blank\">Van Dhan Vikas Kendra<\/a> (VDVK) <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">receives support for setting up facilities at beneficiaries\u2019 homes or in government or Gram Panchayat buildings.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Processing equipment:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Depending on the locally available produce, centres can receive equipment such as cutting and sieving tools, decorticators, dryers and packaging equipment.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Working capital:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Financial linkages are facilitated through banks, financial institutions and the National Scheduled Tribes Finance and Development Corporation.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Storage and transportation:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Support is also provided for storage and transportation on a rental basis.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A key component of the mission is the <\/span><b>Van Dhan Vikas Kendra (VDVK) model.<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">VDVKs <\/span><b>bring<\/b> <b>tribal forest gatherers<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> together <\/span><b>through self-help groups<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and help them undertake primary processing and value addition.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A VDVK is generally <\/span><b>formed by clustering around 15 self-help groups<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, comprising about 300 tribal members.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At least <\/span><b>60 per cent of the members<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are required to belong to <\/span><b>Scheduled Tribe communities.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>Van Dhan Yojana, launched in
