Bhabak from the Indian Institute of Technology<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">-Guwahati.<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Working Mechanism<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When RK-251 enters a cancer cell with <\/span><b>high reactive oxygen species<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (ROS) levels, these molecules trigger the drug\u2019s activation, releasing an <\/span><b>anticancer compound called NBDHEX.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">NBDHEX <\/span><b>blocks target proteins<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that many cancer cells use to survive and resist treatment.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The idea is to keep RK-251 relatively inactive in normal tissues and activate its anticancer action inside cancer cells.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It exhibited strong activity against <\/span><b>aggressive triple-negative breast cancer cells<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, with much less effect on healthy cells.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It <\/span><b>displayed the desired fluorescence<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the presence of reactive oxygen species.<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The fluorescence response also provides an indication that the drug is being activated in an ROS-rich environment, supporting the underlying mechanism of the targeted approach.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/newsonair.gov.in\/new-smart-drug-rk-251-developed-as-potential-alternative-to-chemotherapy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">News On Air<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>RK-251 Drug is a smart cancer drug designed to activate primarily in cancer cells and does not harm healthy cells.
