His career continues to inspire young sportspersons through values such as <\/span><b>dedication, discipline, focus and national pride<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He represented India in the <\/span><b>1928, 1932 and 1936 Olympic Games<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, where the Indian hockey team won gold medals. People from different age groups participate in activities such as <\/span><b>hockey, kabaddi, basketball, marathons and other sports<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Government Initiatives for Sports Development in India<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Government of India has been strengthening the sports ecosystem through programmes focused on <\/span><b>grassroots participation, talent identification, athlete training, infrastructure and sports education<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports received an allocation of <\/span><b>\u20b93,794 crore for FY 2025-26<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, including \u20b92,191 crore for Central Sector Schemes.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Khelo India &#8211; National Programme for Development of Sports<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, launched in FY 2016-17, focuses on increasing mass participation and developing sporting talent. It aims to turn fitness into a wider <\/span><b>people\u2019s movement<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/revamped-khelo-india-scheme\/\" target=\"_blank\"><b>Revamped Khelo India Scheme<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, approved for <\/span><b>2026-27 to 2030-31<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, aims to build a complete sports development pathway from <\/span><b>school and village-level participation to elite and Olympic-level performance<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. It is also designed to strengthen India\u2019s preparations for major sporting events, including the <\/span><b>2030 Commonwealth Games<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the <\/span><b>2036 Olympic ambitions<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and the broader goal of <\/span><b>Viksit Bharat@2047<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>National Sports Governance Act 2025 and Khelo Bharat Niti 2025<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>National Sports Governance Act, 2025<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, enacted on <\/span><b>18 August 2025<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, introduced reforms aimed at improving <\/span><b>transparency, accountability, ethics and athlete welfare<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in sports administration.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Act places emphasis on <\/span><b>athlete protection<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, including provisions relating to safe sports policies, codes of ethics and internal grievance redressal mechanisms for athletes, coaches and other stakeholders.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It also provides for reforms in the structure of sports bodies, including <\/span><b>age and tenure limits for office bearers<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, with provisions aimed at promoting greater accountability and renewal in sports administration.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Khelo Bharat Niti 2025<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, launched in July 2025, seeks to transform sports into a wider national movement and a viable career option. It connects sports development with <\/span><b>education, grassroots talent identification, infrastructure and India\u2019s long-term sporting ambitions<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The policy supports the broader objective of developing India into a stronger sporting nation and contributes to the vision of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/viksit-bharat-2047\/\" target=\"_blank\"><b>Viksit Bharat 2047<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and the ambition of becoming a leading sporting power.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>National Sports Awards and Other Sports Development Measures<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>National Sports Awards<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are presented annually on National Sports Day to honour outstanding contributions by athletes, coaches and institutions.
