Tea Board of India<\/b> is a statutory organisation under the <\/span>Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India<\/b>, responsible for promoting and developing the Indian tea industry. It plays an important role in supporting tea cultivation, production, quality improvement, research, marketing and exports.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What is the Tea Board of India?<\/b><\/h2>\n

Tea Board of India<\/b> is a statutory body established under <\/span>Section 4 of the Tea Act, 1953<\/b>. The present Tea Board was constituted on <\/span>1 April 1954<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Board works under the administrative control of the <\/span>Ministry of Commerce and Industry<\/b> and is headquartered in <\/span>Kolkata, West Bengal<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Its broad objective is to promote the growth of the tea industry in India by supporting <\/span>tea cultivation, manufacturing, marketing, research, quality improvement and exports<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Tea Board of India History<\/b><\/h2>\n

The institutional history of tea promotion in India goes back to <\/span>1903<\/b>, when the <\/span>Indian Tea Cess Bill<\/b> was introduced. The legislation imposed a cess on tea exports and the funds collected were used for promoting Indian tea in domestic and international markets.<\/span><\/p>\n

Over the years, the institutional framework for regulating and developing the tea industry evolved.<\/span><\/p>\n
