Lake Vostok is important for understanding Antarctica\u2019s hidden freshwater reserves and isolated environments.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Lake Vostok<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><b>Lake Vostok <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is located in central East Antarctica beneath Russia\u2019s Vostok Station. Its surface is about 4,000 m below the ice surface and around 500 m below sea level. The lake extends about 250 km in length and 50 km at its widest point.
