style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the Department of Pharmaceuticals has announced the second call for applications under the Promotion of Research and Innovation in Pharma and MedTech (PRIP) Scheme.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Promotion of Research and Innovation in Pharma and MedTech Scheme<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was launched to transform India into a global powerhouse <\/span><b>for R&amp;D in the Pharma MedTech sector.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is an initiative of the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals &amp; Fertilizers in <\/span><b>2023.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>Total Financial Outlay:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u20b95000 crores.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The aim of the scheme is to <\/span><b>promote industry-academia linkage for R&amp;D in<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> priority areas and to inculcate the culture of quality research and nurture our pool of scientists.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Initiatives such as <\/span><b>MedTech Mitra and Patent Mitra<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and the online platform under the Scheme will facilitate collaboration and partnership among various stakeholders.<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>It focuses on two components<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>Component A<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Strengthening research infrastructure through establishment of <\/span><b>Centres of Excellence (CoE<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) in the seven existing National Institutes of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPERs).\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These CoEs would be set up in pre identified areas with a <\/span><b>financial outlay of Rs 700 Crores.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>Component B<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Promoting research in the pharmaceutical sector<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by encouraging research in <\/span><b>six priority areas<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> wherein financial assistance will be provided for the <\/span><b>Industries, MSME, SME, Startups working<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with government institutes and for both in- house and academic research.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Under this <\/span><b>for Early Stage Projects<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>MSMEs <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and startups may apply for projects costing up <\/span><b>to \u20b99 crore for assistance of up to \u20b95 crore.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For <\/span><b>Later Stage Projects<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, projects of industry, MSMEs and startups costing <\/span><b>up to \u20b9285 crore<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> may apply for <\/span><b>assistance up to \u20b9100 crore.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>Priority Areas<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">New Chemical Entity, New Biological Entity, and Phyto-pharmaceuticals\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Complex generics and Biosimilars<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Precision medicine (Targeted innovative therapeutics)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Medical devices<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight:
