The agreement is reportedly close to being finalised.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For India, <\/span><b>diversified <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">uranium <\/span><b>sourcing <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">can reduce dependence on a limited number of suppliers and support the long-term expansion of nuclear power as a low-carbon baseload energy source.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Trade and Economic Partnership<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The two countries set an ambitious target of raising annual bilateral trade from around USD 1 billion to <\/span><b>USD 5 billion by 2030.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Key areas identified include trade and investment, agriculture and pharmaceuticals, energy and critical minerals, jewellery and mining, and infrastructure and connectivity.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To achieve the target, India and Uzbekistan intend to address market-access barriers, connectivity constraints, banking and payment mechanisms.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Significance<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: Uzbekistan is an important gateway to Central Asia, while India seeks greater economic engagement with the resource-rich and strategically located region.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Defence and Counter-Terrorism<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Defence cooperation:<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is being expanded from traditional military exchanges towards <\/span><b>defence-industrial collaboration.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Both sides will promote direct linkages between defence industries. Focus will be placed on co-development and co-production of military equipment.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Joint Working Group on Military Cooperation is exploring new avenues in defence-industrial cooperation.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>Dustlik joint military exercise<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> continues to and Strategic Resources<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Critical minerals and mining have emerged as important pillars of the relationship.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Uzbekistan possesses significant mineral resources, while India is seeking to <\/span><b>diversify <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">its sources of critical minerals essential for clean energy, electronics, advanced manufacturing and strategic technologies.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This cooperation can contribute to India&#8217;s broader objective of building <\/span><b>resilient <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and diversified <\/span><b>global supply chains.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Connectivity and People-to-People Ties<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Connectivity remains a key challenge in India\u2013Central Asia relations because India lacks direct overland access to the region.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The partnership therefore assumes significance in the context of India&#8217;s broader <\/span><b>Connect Central Asia Policy<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and efforts to develop alternative connectivity corridors.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Other measures include &#8211;<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Uzbekistan\u2019s decision to remove visa requirements for Indian citizens for stays up to 30 days, facilitating tourism and
