{"id":12206,"date":"2025-10-19T12:00:06","date_gmt":"2025-10-19T06:30:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=12206"},"modified":"2025-10-24T17:41:27","modified_gmt":"2025-10-24T12:11:27","slug":"food-and-agriculture-organization","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/food-and-agriculture-organization\/","title":{"rendered":"Food and Agriculture Organization"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Food and Agriculture Organization Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, India and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) celebrated 80 years of partnership on World Food Day 2025.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Food and Agriculture Organization<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a <\/span><b>specialized agency of the United Nations<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (UN) that leads international efforts to defeat hunger.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is the oldest permanent specialized agency of the UN, <\/span><b>established in October 1945.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>Mandate:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> To <\/span><b>improve nutrition<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>increase agricultural productivity,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> raise the standard of living in rural populations, and contribute to global economic growth.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Functions<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The FAO coordinates the efforts of governments and technical agencies in programs for developing agriculture, forestry, fisheries, and land and water resources.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It leads <\/span><b>international efforts to fight hunger.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is both a forum for <\/span><b>negotiating agreements between developing and developed countries<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and a source of technical knowledge and information to aid development.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Members:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It currently has <\/span><b>195 members<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; 194 countries and the European Union.
