{"id":12238,"date":"2025-12-13T11:48:20","date_gmt":"2025-12-13T06:18:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=12238"},"modified":"2025-12-13T15:00:00","modified_gmt":"2025-12-13T09:30:00","slug":"international-fund-for-agricultural-development-ifad","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/international-fund-for-agricultural-development-ifad\/","title":{"rendered":"International Fund for Agricultural Development"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>International Fund for Agricultural Development Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the Government of India highlighted the country&#8217;s pioneering achievements in rural transformation and development leadership at the International Fund for Agricultural Development &#8211; India Day event held in Rome.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About International Fund for Agricultural Development<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is an <\/span><b>international financial institution<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and a <\/span><b>specialized agency of the United Nations.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was <\/span><b>established<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as an international financial institution <\/span><b>in 1977 <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">through <\/span><b>United Nations General Assembly Resolution.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Objective:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It is dedicated to <\/span><b>eradicating poverty<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>hunger in rural areas<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of developing countries.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">IFAD seeks <\/span><b>to empower rural people<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to increase their food security, improve the nutrition of their families.<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Its projects and programmes are carried out in remote and environmentally fragile locations, including <\/span><b>least-developed countries<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>Small Island<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> developing States.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a member of the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/united-nations-development-programme-undp\/\" target=\"_blank\"><b>United Nations Development Group<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (UNDP).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">IFAD grants <\/span><b>support research, innovation, institutional change<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and pro-poor technologies.<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">IFAD extends <\/span><b>two types of grants<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, depending on the nature of the innovation and the scope of intervention: <\/span><b>global or regional grants and country-specific grants<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Membership:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Currently, IFAD has <\/span><b>180 <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Member States, <\/span><b>including India.
