{"id":123791,"date":"2026-09-10T12:59:40","date_gmt":"2026-09-10T07:29:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=123791"},"modified":"2026-09-10T12:59:40","modified_gmt":"2026-09-10T07:29:40","slug":"endometriosis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/endometriosis\/","title":{"rendered":"Endometriosis"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Endometriosis Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A latest study by the Indian Council of Medical Research-National Institute for Research on Women\u2019s Health (ICMR-NIRWoH), Mumbai, has found that genetic factors contribute to a woman\u2019s risk of developing endometriosis.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Endometriosis<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a complex disease where <\/span><b>tissue lining the uterus overgrows outside it.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It <\/span><b>affects many women<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, globally from the onset of their first period (menarche) through menopause.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It affects a woman\u2019s physical, psychological, and social well-being.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is caused by a mix of <\/span><b>genetics, hormones, environment, and lifestyle.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Endometriosis <\/span><b>can also affect transgender<\/b> <b>men<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and non-binary individuals who menstruate.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">People with endometriosis have higher rates of <\/span><b>other immune-mediated conditions<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, such as lupus, multiple sclerosis, and inflammatory bowel disease.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Symptoms:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It can cause severe <\/span><b>period pain, chronic pelvic pain<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, painful intercourse, fatigue, infertility, anxiety, depression and a poor quality of life.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Treatment:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> There is <\/span><b>no cure for endometriosis,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> but treatments are available for the symptoms and problems it causes.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It affects about 10 per cent of women of reproductive age globally; India accounts for an estimated 50 million cases, representing nearly 18 per cent of the global burden.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Endometriosis is a complex disease where tissue lining the uterus overgrows outside it.
