It was <\/span><b>commissioned <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">on 2 June <\/span><b>1999<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is designed for <\/span><b>multi-role naval operations,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> including air defence, anti-surface warfare, anti-submarine warfare, and fleet escort missions.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>INS Mysore <\/b><b>Features<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It has a displacement of 6,835 tons, a length of 535 feet, a beam of 56 feet, and a draft of 21 feet.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Power consists of 2 x 54,000 hp AM-50 <\/span><b>gas turbines linked <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to 2 x 10,000 hp <\/span><b>marine diesel engines<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> driving 2 x axles.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Gas turbines <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">are used to <\/span><b>provide the extra thrus<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">t, while<\/span><b> diesel engines<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> provide the <\/span><b>required cruising power.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It has a speed of 32 knots and a <\/span><b>range of 5,000 miles.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A<\/span><b> pair of medium helicopters<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (and their matching crews) are also supported thanks to the combination of a hangar and helipad in the stern.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is equipped with state-of-the-art radar, communications, and sensor equipment, as well as a hull-mounted variable depth sonar system.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Weapons include a <\/span><b>mix of rocket and projectile-guided weapons.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Four quadruple launchers service a stockpile of 16 SS-N-25 Surface-to-Surface MissileS (SSM) and two SA-N-7 Surface-to-Air MissileS (SAM) launchers to counter air threats from afar.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There is a conventional 100 mm deck gun and 4 x AK-630 series 30 mm Close-In Weapon Systems (CIWSs) and turrets.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition, the warship is equipped with two <\/span><b>RBU-6000 anti-submarine rocket (ASROC) launchers<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and five 21-inch (533 mm) torpedoes, deployed in quintuple launchers.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Key Facts about Exercise Samudra Laksamana<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a<\/span><b> joint naval exercise<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> between the <\/span><b>Indian Navy and the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMB).<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The exercise aims to strengthen bonds and enhance interoperability between the Indian and Royal Malaysian Navy.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">INS Mysore, along with RMN Ships KD Lekir and KD Gagah Samudera, will participate in the 2026 edition of the exercise.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>News: <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/defence.in\/threads\/ins-mysore-docks-in-malaysia-to-strengthen-maritime-cooperation-during-exercise-samudra-laksamana.18678\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><b>DEF<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>INS Mysore is a Delhi-class guided missile destroyer of the Indian Navy.
