The announcement is part of India\u2019s broader <\/span><b>Space Vision 2047<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which seeks to expand the country\u2019s human spaceflight, space science and exploration capabilities.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>What is Bharat Antariksha Station?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><b>Bharat Antariksha Station (BAS)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is India&#8217;s planned indigenous space station. It is expected to become an important platform for <\/span><b>human spaceflight, microgravity research, space technology development and long-duration missions<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The space station is part of India&#8217;s long-term human spaceflight programme. ISRO&#8217;s broader roadmap includes the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/upsc-exam\/gaganyaan-mission\/\" target=\"_blank\"><b>Gaganyaan programme<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, successive lunar missions and eventually a <\/span><b>crewed Moon landing by 2040<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The BAS will help India develop the capability to conduct experiments and maintain a continuous human presence in <\/span><b>Low Earth Orbit (LEO)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>What Role Will ISRO Play in India\u2019s Space Station Mission?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><b><a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/upsc-exam\/isro\/\" target=\"_blank\">ISRO<\/a> will lead the development, launch and operation of the Bharat Antariksha Station (BAS)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, building on its experience in <\/span><b>Gaganyaan, Chandrayaan and other space missions<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. It will also develop the technologies needed for long-duration human spaceflight and future lunar exploration.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Design and development:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Develop the station modules, life-support systems, spacecraft and other critical technologies.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Human spaceflight:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Use <\/span><b>Gaganyaan<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> experience to safely transport and support astronauts href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/bharatiya-antariksha-station\/\" target=\"_blank\"><b>Bharat Antariksha Station<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Human spaceflight:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The mission aims to send Indian astronauts into <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/low-earth-orbit\/\" target=\"_blank\">Low Earth Orbit<\/a> (LEO)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and safely return them to
