International Literacy Prizes during the International Literacy Day global function ceremony held in the state of Chiapas, Mexico.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About UNESCO International Literacy Prize<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It has been<\/span><b> awarded since 1967.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Prizes aim to <\/span><b>promote literacy<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as a foundation for lifelong learning, equity and sustainable development, especially in light of ongoing global challenges.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Eligibility:<\/b> <b>Individuals, non-governmental organisations<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>government bodies<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> involved in literacy promotion can apply when their programmes demonstrate measurable impact and align with that year\u2019s theme.<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">International Literacy Day 2026 theme was <\/span><b>\u201cLiteracy for people, the planet, and prosperity\u201d.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The prizes include <\/span><b>six annual awards<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>UNESCO King Sejong Literacy Prize<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (3 awards)<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"3\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It has been supported by the <\/span><b>Government of the Republic of Korea <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">since 1989, the Prize highlights <\/span><b>mother-tongue and multilingual literacy<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> efforts.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"3\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Each laureate <\/span><b>receives a medal,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> a <\/span><b>diploma and US$ 30,000.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>UNESCO Confucius Prize for Literacy (3 awards<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">)<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"3\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It has been supported by the Government of the <\/span><b>People\u2019s Republic of China<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> since 2005.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"3\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It recognizes programmes <\/span><b>supporting functional literacy in rural areas<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and among out-of-school youth, particularly through technology.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"3\"><span style=\"font-weight:
