Significant Indian Diplomatic Gain<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">BRICS strongly condemned terrorism in all its forms and manifestations and specifically condemned the April 2025 <\/span><b>Pahalgam terrorist attack<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, in which 26 people were killed.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It highlighted terror financing, safe havens, extremism and radicalisation among youth, international counter-terrorism cooperation, <\/span><b>zero tolerance<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for terrorism, and rejection of <\/span><b>double standards<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in countering terrorism.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Terrorism should not be associated with any <\/span><b>particular religion<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, nationality, civilisation or ethnic group. It also recognised the role of the BRICS Counter-Terrorism Working Group (<\/span><b>CTWG<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>For India<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, explicit reference to cross-border terrorism is particularly important given the divergent positions among BRICS members on terrorism-related issues.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Trade &#8211; Opposition to Unilateral Protectionism<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Against the backdrop of rising tariffs and trade tensions, BRICS opposed unilateral coercive measures <\/span><b>inconsistent with international law<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the UN Charter and WTO principles.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It called for a fair, stable and predictable trading environment conducive to sustainable development.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The declaration also opposed unilateral carbon border adjustment mechanisms (<\/span><b>CBAMs<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) where they are punitive, discriminatory or protectionist.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This reflects a broader BRICS objective of <\/span><b>reducing vulnerability<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to unilateral economic and financial measures and strengthening the voice of developing economies in global economic governance.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>De-dollarisation &#8211; Practical Steps, No Common Currency<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">BRICS did <\/span><b>not <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">announce<\/span><b> a common BRICS currency<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
