400;\">India has stepped up efforts to expand access to clean and affordable cooking fuel with the launch of the Incentive Scheme for Promotion of Domestic PNG Connections.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Incentive Scheme for Promotion of Domestic PNG Connections<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is aimed at accelerating the growth of active <\/span><b>domestic Piped Natural Gas<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (PNG) connections across the country.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It enables households to <\/span><b>access clean, safe and affordable cooking gas<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> through piped supply.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It provides incentives to <\/span><b>City Gas Distribution (CGD) network<\/b> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">entities for converting unbilled connections into active, billed connections.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was <\/span><b>launched in 2026,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and seeks to encourage <\/span><b>City Gas Distribution (CGD) entities<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to connect more households to piped natural gas.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CGD networks are developed by entities authorised by the <\/span><b>Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB).\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>Nodal ministry:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Working<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The scheme will be implemented in <\/span><b>two tranches over a six-month period.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A minimum number of domestic <\/span><b>connections has been fixed for every Geographical Area<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, with eligible CGD entities required to add billed domestic connections above the prescribed threshold during the performance period.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For each such incremental connection, the entity earns an additional <\/span><b>allocation of 200 Standard Cubic Metres (SCM)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of gas.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source:<\/b> <strong><a
