The campaign will continue until <\/span><b>17 October 2026<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and focuses on making cleanliness a shared responsibility through active participation by citizens, institutions, local bodies and government agencies.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>What is Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><b>Swachhata Hi Seva<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is an annual cleanliness campaign that brings together citizens, government institutions, local bodies, schools, youth groups and other organisations for voluntary cleanliness activities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The campaign has been organised annually since <\/span><b>2017<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. In 2026, the focus has expanded beyond one-time cleanliness drives to include <\/span><b>behavioural change, scientific waste management, safety and dignity of sanitation workers, youth participation and waste-to-wealth initiatives<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The campaign follows a <\/span><b>Whole of Government and Whole of Society approach<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, meaning that cleanliness is treated as a collective responsibility rather than the responsibility of a single department or local authority.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign 2026 Theme<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The theme of the campaign is: <\/span><b>\u201cSwachhata Mein Sahbhag; <a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/swachh-bharat-mission-sbm-urban-20\/\" target=\"_blank\">Swachh Bharat<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/viksit-bharat-2047\/\" target=\"_blank\">Viksit Bharat<\/a>\u201d. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The theme places <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/jal-sanchay-jan-bhagidari-initiative\/\" target=\"_blank\"><b>Jan Bhagidari<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, or people&#8217;s participation, at the centre of the campaign. It seeks to encourage citizens to take ownership of cleanliness in their homes, neighbourhoods, workplaces, schools and public spaces.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Five Key Pillars of Swachhata Hi Seva 2026<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><b>Swachhata Hi Seva 2026<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> campaign is built around five key pillars that focus on <\/span><b>cleanliness, public participation, youth engagement, sanitation worker welfare and waste management<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The day will focus on strengthening <\/span><b>Jan Bhagidari<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and creating awareness about cleanliness and responsible waste management. Special <\/span><b>Gram Sabhas in rural areas<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>Council Meetings in urban areas<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will discuss the campaign\u2019s progress and the <\/span><b>Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
