


{"id":12507,"date":"2024-05-15T07:12:39","date_gmt":"2024-05-15T01:42:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=12507"},"modified":"2025-04-01T19:39:59","modified_gmt":"2025-04-01T14:09:59","slug":"great-pyramid-of-giza","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/great-pyramid-of-giza\/","title":{"rendered":"Great Pyramid of Giza"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About Great Pyramid of Giza:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The Great Pyramid of Giza, also called <strong>Great Pyramid<\/strong> and <strong>Great Pyramid of Khufu<\/strong>, is an <strong>ancient Egyptian pyramid<\/strong> that is the <strong>largest of the three Pyramids of Giza<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Location<\/strong>: It is located on the <strong>Giza plateau,<\/strong> five miles to the <strong>west of<\/strong> the <strong>Nile River ,near<\/strong> the city of <strong>Cairo, Egypt.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It was <strong>built by Khufu<\/strong> (Cheops), the <strong>second king of Egypt\u2019s 4th dynasty<\/strong> (c. 2575\u2013c. 2465 BCE).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Its construction<\/strong> began around 2580 BC, shortly after Khufu became pharaoh, and was <strong>completed around 2560 BC.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Until the Eiffel Tower<\/strong> was <strong>completed in Paris<\/strong>, France, in 1889, the <strong>Great Pyramid was the tallest structure made by human<\/strong> hands in the world; a record it held for over 3,000 years.<\/li>\n<li>The pyramid was <strong>first excavated<\/strong> using modern techniques and scientific analysis <strong>in 1880 by Sir William Matthew Flinders Petrie<\/strong> (l.1853-1942), the British archaeologist.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Features<\/strong>:\n<ul>\n<li>When the pyramid was built, it was around 481 feet tall. <strong>Today<\/strong>, because of erosion and the removal of the top piece, the <strong>pyramid is around 455 feet tall<\/strong>. At its base, each side is approximately 755 feet long.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>It is comprised of <strong>over two million blocks of stone<\/strong>. Each of the stone blocks is estimated to weigh over 2000 pounds (907 kg).<\/li>\n<li>Inside the Great Pyramid are <strong>three major rooms:<\/strong> the <strong>King&#8217;s Chamber, t<\/strong>he <strong>Queen&#8217;s Chamber, and the Grand Gallery<\/strong>.
