She is popularly known as the \u201cIron Lady of Assam\u201d. She has worked in counter insurgency, field policing and national security. In September 2026, Sanjukta Parashar became the first woman Inspector General to lead the Central Reserve Police Force\u2019s specialised CoBRA unit.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Sanjukta Parasor Biography<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><b>Sanjukta Parasor <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">has built her career through field assignments in Assam and national security investigations. Her experience includes counter insurgency operations and service with the National Investigation Agency.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Birth and Education: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sanjukta Parashar was born in October 1979. She completed her early education in Assam and later studied in Delhi. She graduated in Political Science from Indraprastha College, Delhi University and completed a master\u2019s in International Relations from <a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/upsc-exam\/jawaharlal-nehru\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Jawaharlal Nehru<\/strong><\/a> University.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>IPS Career: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sanjukta Parasor joined the <a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/upsc-exam\/ips-ranks\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Indian Police Service<\/strong><\/a> as part of the 2006 batch. She belongs to the Assam-Meghalaya cadre and served in several operational and investigative roles during her career.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Assam Experience: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">She led counter insurgency operations in Assam, particularly in the state\u2019s upper region. Her field policing experience in insurgency affected areas contributed to her reputation as the \u201cIron Lady of Assam\u201d.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>National Investigation Agency: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sanjukta Parashar served in the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/upsc-exam\/national-investigation-agency\/\" target=\"_blank\">National Investigation Agency<\/a><\/strong> from 2017 to 2023. Her career combines field operations with national level investigations.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>First Woman to Lead CRPF CoBRA<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sanjukta Parasor\u2019s September 2026 appointment placed her at the head of a specialised 10 battalion force focused on jungle warfare, guerrilla operations and counter insurgency.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>First Woman IG: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sanjukta Parasor became the first woman officer appointed Inspector General of the CRPF\u2019s Commando Battalion for Resolute Action. A total of 10 CoBRA units were raised between 2008 and 2011.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Operational Role: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CoBRA personnel are specially trained for jungle warfare and guerrilla operations. Their duties include intelligence based missions, long range patrols, ambushes, counter ambushes and operations in difficult terrain.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Current Deployment: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Two CoBRA units were recently deployed in Manipur amid armed violence. Their deployment added a counter insurgency dimension to Sanjukta Parashar\u2019s new operational responsibility.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Sanjukta Parashar Contributions<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sanjukta Parasor\u2019s career covers counter insurgency, field policing, intelligence investigations and leadership in specialised security operations across different levels.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Counter Insurgency Work: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sanjukta Parashar gained recognition through counter insurgency operations in Northeast India.
