{"id":12535,"date":"2026-08-10T12:10:13","date_gmt":"2026-08-10T06:40:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=12535"},"modified":"2026-08-10T16:30:34","modified_gmt":"2026-08-10T11:00:34","slug":"tadoba-andhari-tiger-reserve","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/tadoba-andhari-tiger-reserve\/","title":{"rendered":"Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Odisha\u2019s wildlife department has initiated the second phase of tiger translocation to Similipal Tiger Reserve (STR) after the state successfully brought two tigresses from the Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Location:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It is located in the Chandrapur district in <\/span><b>Maharashtra.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is the largest and oldest tiger reserve in Maharashtra.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was established in 1955, the reserve consists of <\/span><b>Tadoba National Park and Andhari Wildlife Sanctuary.<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The word \u2018Tadoba\u2019 is derived from the name of the God \u201c<\/span><b>Tadoba\u201d or \u201cTaru,\u201d<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> which is praised by local tribal people of this region, and \u201cAndhari\u201d is derived from the name of the <\/span><b>Andhari River<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that flows in this area.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It has corridor linkages with <\/span><b>Nagzira-Navegaon and <a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/pench-tiger-reserve-upsc\/\" target=\"_blank\">Pench Tiger Reserves<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> within the State.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It has a hilly topography with an average <\/span><b>elevation of 200\u2013350 metres.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Water Sources:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> There are two lakes and one waterway in the reserve: Tadoba Lake, Kolsa Lake, and the <\/span><b>Tadoba River.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Vegetation:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It falls in the central plateau province of the <\/span><b>Deccan peninsula<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, with tropical dry <\/span><b>deciduous forests<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and a typical central Indian faunal assemblage.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Flora: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It mainly consists of Teak, Ain, Bamboo, Bija, Dhaoda, Haldu, Salai, Semal and Tendu.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Fauna:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It is home to Indian leopards, sloth bears, Indian gaur (bison), wild dogs (dholes), striped hyenas, marsh crocodiles, sambar deer, chital (spotted deer), barking deer, and four-horned antelopes (chousingha).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/indianexpress.com\/article\/india\/beyond-zeenat-inside-odishas-next-tiger-translocation-move-10824268\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">IE<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve is located in the Chandrapur district in Maharashtra.
