{"id":125612,"date":"2026-09-22T13:39:11","date_gmt":"2026-09-22T08:09:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=125612"},"modified":"2026-09-22T13:39:11","modified_gmt":"2026-09-22T08:09:11","slug":"visegrad-group","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/visegrad-group\/","title":{"rendered":"Visegr\u00e1d Group"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Visegr\u00e1d Group Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the four members of the Visegr\u00e1d Group backed India\u2019s bid for a permanent seat on the UN Security Council at their first foreign ministers\u2019 meeting with India.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Visegr\u00e1d Group<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Visegrad Group is also known as the &#8220;<\/span><b>Visegrad Four&#8221; or simply &#8220;V4&#8221;.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a <\/span><b>cultural and political alliance<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> which was created in 1991.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It <\/span><b>aims <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to advance cooperation in <\/span><b>military, economic, cultural, and energy affairs.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>Member Countries:\u00a0 <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Background<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was created when <\/span><b>Polish, Czechoslovakian and Hungarian<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> leaders met in the Hungarian <\/span><b>town of Visegr\u00e1d to promote cooperation<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> between the three States following the Warsaw Pact.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In <\/span><b>1993, Slovakia<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> separated from the Czech Republic and the <\/span><b>Group became the \u201cV4\u201d.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Working<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The V4 is an informal intergovernmental <\/span><b>forum and makes its decisions by consensus.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It <\/span><b>does not<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> have any <\/span><b>permanent structures<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The group\u2019s work is <\/span><b>centred around a presidency<\/b> <b>which rotates on an annual basis<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It <\/span><b>conducts regular meetings<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at various levels: Heads of State, Prime Ministers, Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Ministers for European Affairs, technical ministries, etc.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>agenda for<\/b> <b>meetings<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is set by <\/span><b>the presidency<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>V4 occasionally works<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with other States, <\/span><b>both <a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/european-union-eu\/\" target=\"_blank\">EU<\/a> and non-EU members<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, in <\/span><b>formats known as \u201cV4+\u201d.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.businesstoday.in\/india\/story\/upcoming-superpower-in-indo-pacific-v4-countries-back-indias-un-security-council-bid-556906-2026-09-22\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">BT<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Visegr\u00e1d Group  is a cultural and political alliance which was created in 1991.
