Asian Games 2026 Day 4<\/b> is underway in <\/span>Aichi-Nagoya, Japan<\/b>, with Indian athletes competing across shooting, badminton, kabaddi, table tennis, fencing, cricket and other sports on Tuesday, September 22. India entered Day 4 with <\/span>six medals, including two silver and four bronze<\/b>, but was still waiting for its first gold medal of the Games.<\/span><\/p>\n

ndia had a busy start to Day 4, with athletes competing in several major events.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Indian women’s badminton team faced Japan in the quarter-finals but lost <\/span>1-3<\/b>. PV Sindhu won the opening singles match against Akane Yamaguchi after a closely contested first game, but Japan eventually progressed.<\/span><\/p>\n

In <\/span>shooting<\/b>, Elavenil Valarivan and Parth Mane reached the final of the 10m air rifle mixed team event. The Indian pair finished <\/span>fourth<\/b> among the four teams in the final. China won the event, while Japan and South Korea occupied the other medal positions.<\/span><\/p>\n

Asian Games 2026 Day 4: Shooting<\/b><\/h2>\n

Shooting was one of the main attractions for India on Day 4.<\/span><\/p>\n

Elavenil Valarivan and Parth Mane<\/b> competed in the 10m air rifle mixed team event. The Indian pair entered the final with hopes of securing India’s first gold medal of the Games.<\/span><\/p>\n

After the first series, India was fourth with <\/span>103.6 points<\/b>. China led with 107.2, followed by South Korea with 104.9 and Japan with 103.9.<\/span><\/p>\n

After the second series, China remained at the top with <\/span>211.9<\/b>, followed by Japan at 209.4 and South Korea at 209.2. India was fourth with 207.9. The Indian pair eventually finished fourth.<\/span><\/p>\n

India also had athletes competing in the <\/span>men’s and women’s skeet events<\/b>, including Anantjeet Singh Naruka, Mairaj Ahmad Khan, Bhavtegh Singh Gill, Parinaaz Dhaliwal, Raiza Dhillon and Maheshwari Chauhan.<\/span><\/p>\n

Asian Games 2026 Day 4: Kabaddi<\/b><\/h2>\n

The Indian men’s kabaddi team continued its campaign with a commanding <\/span>63-31 victory over South Korea<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

India established a strong lead in the first half, going into the break with a <\/span>34-14 advantage<\/b>. The team added another 29 points in the second half while South Korea managed 17.<\/span><\/p>\n

The win was particularly significant because India had suffered a group-stage defeat against South Korea at the 2018 Asian Games. In 2026, India entered the match as the defending champions and strengthened its position at the top of Group A with its second victory.<\/span><\/p>\n

India’s next Group A match is against <\/span>Bangladesh<\/b>, followed by a match against <\/span>Chinese Taipei<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Indian women’s badminton team faced Japan in the quarter-finals.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Indian team featured <\/span>PV Sindhu, Unnati Hooda, Devika Sihag, Tanvi Sharma, Isharani Baruah, Treesa Jolly, Gayatri Gopichand, Kavipriya, Simran and Tanisha<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

PV Sindhu started the tie against Japan’s Akane Yamaguchi and won the opening game <\/span>23-21<\/b> after a closely fought contest. However, Japan eventually won the quarter-final <\/span>3-1<\/b>, ending India’s women’s team campaign in the event.<\/span><\/p>\n

Asian Games 2026 Day 4: Table Tennis<\/b><\/h2>\n

India’s women’s table tennis team secured an important victory against Thailand.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Indian team, comprising <\/span>Sreeja Akula, Yashaswini Ghorpade, Diya Chitale, Sutirtha Mukherjee and Syndrela Das<\/b>, won the tie <\/span>3-2<\/b> after a three-hour contest.<\/span><\/p>\n

The <\/span>Indian women’s cricket team<\/b> faced Sri Lanka in the women’s T20 final on September 22.<\/span><\/p>\n

The match was particularly important for India because the team was looking to win the country’s <\/span>first gold medal of the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games<\/b>. The final was also a rematch of the recent Women’s Asia Cup final between India and Sri Lanka.<\/span><\/p>\n

Both Indian fencers recorded three wins and two losses in their respective pools and finished fourth in their pools.<\/span><\/p>\n
