Each autonomous district has an Autonomous District Council (ADC).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Membership of Autonomous District Council<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They have up to <\/span><b>30 members<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with a term of <\/span><b>five years.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Out of 30, <\/span><b>four are nominated<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by the governor and the remaining 26 are elected on the basis of adult franchise.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Tenure of Autonomous District Council:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Five years from the date of their constitution.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Functions of Autonomous District Council<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They makes <\/span><b>laws on land, management of forests, except reserved forests<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, appointment of traditional chiefs and headmen,\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They make rules <\/span><b>regulating the inheritance of property<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, marriage, divorce, the constitution of village courts,\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It can <\/span><b>establish, construct or manage primary schools<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, dispensaries, markets, ferries, fisheries, roads and so on in the district.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It can also make regulations for the control of money lending and trading by non-tribals.
