{"id":125996,"date":"2026-09-24T14:50:16","date_gmt":"2026-09-24T09:20:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=125996"},"modified":"2026-09-24T15:00:03","modified_gmt":"2026-09-24T09:30:03","slug":"satellite-smart-anti-airfield-weapon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/satellite-smart-anti-airfield-weapon\/","title":{"rendered":"Satellite Smart Anti Airfield Weapon"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Satellite Smart Anti Airfield Weapon Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the Ministry of Defence has inked a contract with Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) for the procurement of 160 Satellite Smart Anti Airfield Weapons (SAT-SAAW) along with associated equipment for Indian Air Force (IAF).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Satellite Smart Anti Airfield Weapon<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is an <\/span><b>air-to-ground precision guided glide bomb<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> which can be launched from platforms like Jaguar, Hawk &amp; Su-30 MKI.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It has the capability to neutralise enemy airfields from a <\/span><b>long stand-off range.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>Developed by:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It is indigenously designed and <\/span><b>developed by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).<\/b><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Features<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The system will <\/span><b>have an indigenous content of 60%<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> along with indigenisation of sub-systems like Initial Measurement Unit, Long Impact Delay Fuse and Twin Store Carrier to further boost Aatmanirbharta in defence.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It has the <\/span><b>capability to destroy infrastructure<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, including runways, taxiways, aircraft hangars, reinforced bunkers, and radar installations.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The SAT variant <\/span><b>uses satellite navigation<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (GPS\/NavIC) integrated with an onboard Inertial Navigation System (INS) to hit <\/span><b>stationary targets with high accuracy<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (typically within 7 meters) in <\/span><b>all weather conditions, day or night.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The SAT-SAAW will be <\/span><b>delivered between 2027-2028 and 2028-2029.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pib.gov.in\/PressReleaseDetail.aspx?PRID=2313942&amp;reg=3&amp;lang=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">PIB<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Satellite Smart Anti Airfield Weapon is an air-to-ground precision guided glide bomb which can be launched from platforms like Jaguar, Hawk &#038; Su-30 MKI.
