Its benefits should reach people at the bottom of the social and economic pyramid. The approach emphasises a balance between:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Individual and society<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Material and spiritual needs<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Economic development and social welfare<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Individual freedom and social responsibility<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya and Bharatiya Jana Sangh<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya<\/span><b> played an important organisational and ideological role in the Bharatiya Jana Sangh (BJS), which was established in 1951.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He served as the party&#8217;s General Secretary for several years and later became its <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/upsc-exam\/president-of-india\/\" target=\"_blank\">President<\/a><\/strong> in 1967.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">His political thought emphasised nationalism, social organisation and an approach to development rooted in Indian conditions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>Bharatiya Jana Sangh<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> later became an important predecessor of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Death<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><b>Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya died on 11 February 1968<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. His body was found near <\/span><b>Mughal Sarai railway station in present-day Uttar Pradesh<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, after he was travelling by train.
