{"id":12729,"date":"2023-07-02T08:43:52","date_gmt":"2023-07-02T03:13:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=12729"},"modified":"2025-04-01T21:13:08","modified_gmt":"2025-04-01T15:43:08","slug":"nano-urea","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/nano-urea\/","title":{"rendered":"Nano Urea"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>Why in News?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The ministry is aiming to <strong>manufacture 44 crore bottles of Nano Urea<\/strong> by the year 2025.<\/li>\n<li>To achieve the target nine plants will be set up across the country.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>\u00a0<\/h3>\n<h3>About Nano Urea:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a <strong>nanotechnology-based<\/strong> revolutionary <strong>Agri-input<\/strong> that <strong>provides nitrogen to plants.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It is <strong>developed and patented<\/strong> by the <strong>Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO).<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>IFFCO Nano Urea is the <strong>only nano fertilizer approved by the Government of India<\/strong> and included in the Fertilizer Control Order (FCO).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Features:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Compared to conventional urea prill, Nano Urea has a <strong>desirable particle size of about 20-50 nm<\/strong> and <strong>more surface area<\/strong> (10,000 times over 1 mm urea prill) <strong>and number of particles<\/strong> (55,000 nitrogen particles over 1 mm urea prill).<\/li>\n<li>It <strong>contains 4.0 % total nitrogen<\/strong> (w\/v).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Merits of Nano Urea:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>The urea <strong>absorption rate by crops is 80 percent<\/strong> in the case of Nano Urea whereas the traditional urea absorption rate is only 30 percent.<\/li>\n<li>Nano Urea <strong>is cost-effective<\/strong> and demonstrated an <strong>increase in crop yield.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It is produced by an <strong>energy-efficient, environment-friendly production process<\/strong> with less carbon footprints.<\/li>\n<li>It is also <strong>easy to store than urea bags.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>A target has been set to achieve self-reliance in the production of Urea <strong>to reduce dependence on imports.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What is Nanotechnology?<\/h3>\n<p>Nanotechnology is a field of science and technology that deals with manipulating matter on an atomic and molecular scale.
