He was a 19th century Tamil saint, poet and social reformer. He was born on 5 October 1823 in Marudhur, Tamil Nadu. His teachings focused on compassion, non violence, vegetarianism, equality and service to living beings. His major institutions at Vadalur, including Sathya Dharma Salai and Sathya Gnana Sabha, remain closely linked with his social and spiritual teachings.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Ramalinga Swamigal Biography<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ramalinga Swamigal\u2019s life combined spiritual thought, literary work and social reform. His teachings developed around Jeeva Karunyam, the belief that compassion towards living beings is central to spiritual progress.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Birth and Family: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ramalingam was born in Marudhur on October 05th in 1823 to Ramayya Pillai and Chinnammai.
