{"id":12741,"date":"2023-07-02T12:44:58","date_gmt":"2023-07-02T07:14:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=12741"},"modified":"2025-04-01T21:19:13","modified_gmt":"2025-04-01T15:49:13","slug":"industrial-park-rating-system","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/industrial-park-rating-system\/","title":{"rendered":"Industrial Park Rating System"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About Industrial Park Rating System:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>IPRS was launched <strong>by DPIIT in 2018<\/strong> with the support of the <strong>Asian Development Bank (ADB)<\/strong> and the <strong>Ministry of Electronics and Information<\/strong> <strong>Technology (MeitY).<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Industrial Park Rating System (IPRS) is an <strong>extension of the India Industrial Land Bank (IILB) <\/strong>platform which features <strong>more than 4,500 industrial parks.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It is a <strong>GIS-enabled database<\/strong> to <strong>facilitate investors to identify their preferred location for investment.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Aim:<\/strong> To <strong>rate <\/strong>the country\u2019s <strong>industrial parks and special economic zones (SEZ).<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It rates industrial parks <strong>across four pillars<\/strong>: internal infrastructure and utilities, external infrastructure and facilities, business support services, and environmental and safety management.<\/li>\n<li>Industrial Parks and Special Economic Zones (SEZS) are classified into 3 categories: <strong>Leaders, Challengers and Aspirants.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>This particular portal is integrated with the industry-based GIS system of the states and Union territories and plot-wise information in these are <strong>updated on a real-time basis.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Industrial Park Rating System Report 2.0<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Based on the findings of the pilot and review of the global approaches, frameworks, and guidelines DPIIT <strong>introduced \u2018IPRS 2.0\u2019 in Oct, 2021<\/strong> as a key enabler for identifying additional measures to enhance industrial competitiveness.<\/li>\n<li>The Globally known frameworks were referred for developing the initial concept of IPRS 2.0 viz. <strong>the International Guidelines for Industrial Park (IGIP)<\/strong> <strong>developed by United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO)<\/strong> and <strong>the Eco-Industrial Park (EIP) framework <\/strong>developed by UNIDO, World Bank.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>\u00a0<\/h2>\n<h3>What Is a Special Economic Zone (SEZ):<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>A special economic zone is an area in a country that is subject to <strong>different economic regulations than other regions within the same country.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>They are typically created in order to facilitate rapid economic growth by <strong>leveraging tax incentives<\/strong> to attract foreign investment and spark technological advancement.<\/li>\n<li>The Special Economic Zones (SEZs) policy was <strong>launched in April, 2000.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>SEZs being set up under <strong>The Special Economic Zones Act, 2005.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What is the role of the Asian Development Bank?<\/h3>\n<p>The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is an international financial institution that focuses on promoting economic development and reducing poverty in the Asia-Pacific region.
