{"id":127420,"date":"2026-10-04T12:44:01","date_gmt":"2026-10-04T07:14:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=127420"},"modified":"2026-10-04T13:52:35","modified_gmt":"2026-10-04T08:22:35","slug":"rashtriya-vayoshri-yojana","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/rashtriya-vayoshri-yojana\/","title":{"rendered":"Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment distributed 662 aids and assistive devices, costing over \u20b910 lakh to senior citizens under the Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana (RVY).<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a <\/span><b>Central Sector Scheme,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> fully funded by the Central Government <\/span><b>launched in 2017.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It provides <\/span><b>free assisted-living devices<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to senior citizens <\/span><b>belonging to BPL categories<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Assisted living devices are provided to the senior citizens belonging to the BPL category and with monthly income not <\/span><b>more than Rs. 15000\/-.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Under this scheme, <\/span><b>senior citizens aged 80 years<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> or older are eligible to receive free assisted-living <\/span><b>devices directly at their doorstep.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Assistive Devices:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Eligible elders receive items like walking sticks, wheelchairs, hearing aids, spectacles, artificial dentures, and crutches based on their specific physical needs.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Funding:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The expenditure for implementation of the scheme is being met from <\/span><b>the &#8220;Senior Citizens&#8217; Welfare Fund&#8221;.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Selection: Beneficiaries in each district<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will be identified by the State Governments\/UT Administrations through a Committee chaired by <\/span><b>the Deputy Commissioner\/District Collector.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Implementation:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The Scheme is being implemented by the <\/span><b>Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation (ALIMCO)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a PSU under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Nodal Ministry: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source:<\/b> <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pib.gov.in\/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=2318364&amp;reg=48&amp;lang=2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">PIB<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana is a Central Sector Scheme, fully funded by the Central Government launched in 2017.
