Kelappan Biography<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><b>K. Kelappan\u2019s <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">life combined political activism, education, journalism and social reform. His career reflected the wider regional spread of Gandhian nationalism in Kerala.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Early Life: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Koyapalli Kelappan Nair was born on 24 August 1889 at Muchukunnu, Koyilandy, Kozhikode. His parents were Thenpoyil Kanaran Nair and Koyapalli Kunjamma.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Education and Teaching: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He studied in Kozhikode and Madras and graduated from the University of Madras. Salt laws were violated on 21 April 1930 by preparing salt.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Guruvayur Satyagraha: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kelappan led the Guruvayur Satyagraha in 1931-32 for temple entry and against untouchability. He undertook a twelve\u00a0 day fast in September 1932.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Social Equality: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He consistently opposed untouchability and caste discrimination.
