Bhutan\u2019s state-owned generation utility, Druk Green Power Corporation Ltd (DGPC), have signed a Shareholders Agreement to develop the 770 MW Chamkharchhu-I Hydroelectric Project in Bhutan.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Chamkharchhu-I Hydropower Project<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a <\/span><b>770 MW run-of-river<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> hydropower project planned on the <\/span><b>Chamkharchhu River<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the Zhemgang district of <\/span><b>central Bhutan.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The project will be developed through a <\/span><b>49:51 equity partnership<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, with <\/span><b>Adani Power holding 49% <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and <\/span><b>Bhutan\u2019s state-owned DGPC holding 51%.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It will be implemented under the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/bot\/\" target=\"_blank\"><b>Build, Own, Operate, and Transfer (BOOT) model<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and will have a <\/span><b>30-year concession<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from the date of commercial operation (COD).\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Key project components include a 108-m <\/span><b>concrete gravity dam<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a 19.2-km headrace tunnel, and an underground powerhouse.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Chamkharchhu-I is expected to help <\/span><b>meet Bhutan\u2019s peak winter electricity requirements<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> while enabling <\/span><b>surplus generation<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to be <\/span><b>exported to India during the summer.
