Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania with the rest of NATO territory.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The corridor is located between Kaliningrad and Belarus, giving it particular strategic significance.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">NATO describes the Suwa\u0142ki Gap as a strategic connection between the Baltic States and Allied territory and considers its protection important for the defence and reinforcement of the region.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Why is the Suwa\u0142ki Gap Important?<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Suwa\u0142ki significance in the security calculations of Russia and NATO.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Kaliningrad as a Geopolitical Flashpoint<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kaliningrad has to improve its security may be interpreted by the other as a potential threat.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>Suwa\u0142ki Gap<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> adds to this sensitivity because it is the main land connection between the Baltic States and the rest of NATO, while lying between
