{"id":12813,"date":"2023-07-06T11:02:46","date_gmt":"2023-07-06T05:32:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=12813"},"modified":"2025-04-01T21:57:07","modified_gmt":"2025-04-01T16:27:07","slug":"sohagi-barwa-wildlife-sanctuary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/sohagi-barwa-wildlife-sanctuary\/","title":{"rendered":"Sohagi Barwa Wildlife Sanctuary"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About Sohagi Barwa Wildlife Sanctuary:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Location<\/strong>: It is situated in the <strong>Maharajganj district of Uttar Pradesh<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li><strong>Borders<\/strong>: <strong>On the northern side<\/strong>, the Sanctuary shares the <strong>international boundary with Nepal, <\/strong>and on the <strong>eastern border is Bihar\u2019s Valmiki Tiger Reserve<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>It was <strong>declared a Wildlife Sanctuary in June 1987<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Drainage<\/strong>: It is drained by the <strong>great Gandak, the little Gandak, Pyas and Rohin<\/strong> rivers.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Topography:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>It is <strong>almost flat with an average height of 100mtrs<\/strong> above mean sea level.<\/li>\n<li>The area <strong>gently slopes from North\u2013West to South\u2013East<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Flora<\/strong>:\n<ul>\n<li>Nearly <strong>75% of the area consists of Sal forest<\/strong>, and other <strong>humid areas are covered with Jaamun, Gutal, Semal,<\/strong> KhairTrees, etc.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Lower region<\/strong> of the sanctuary, which <strong>is water logged during rains<\/strong>, <strong>consists of Grasslands<\/strong> and patches of Cane forests.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Fauna<\/strong>:\n<ul>\n<li>It is inhabited by a variety of animals which mainly includes <strong>Leopard, Tiger, Jungle Cat, Small Indian Civet<\/strong>, Langur, Deer, Blue Bull, Wild boar, Porcupine etc.<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>Avifauna is varied with Little Cormorant, Snake Bird, Brahimini<\/strong> Duck, Common Teal, Little Egret, Cattle Egret, Paddy Bird etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1)\u00a0What is a Wildlife Sanctuary?<\/h3>\n<p>A Wildlife Sanctuary can be termed as a large geographical piece of land, usually forested, where animals are kept in their natural habitats.
