visions.\u201d<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is being <\/span><b>conducted by the Indian Coast Guard.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>SAREX-2026 Theme<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: \u201cLeveraging Technology to Strengthen SAR Preparedness and Maritime Safety.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Participants:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It is being participated by 32<\/span><b> observers from 30 countries<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Their participation facilitated exchange of <\/span><b>best practices, enhanced global interoperability<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and reaffirmed India\u2019s role as a dependable maritime Search and Rescue partner in the region.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Participating forces and Assets:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The assets deployed included 15 Coast Guard ships, three Dornier aircraft, three <\/span><b>Advance Light Helicopters, one Chetak helicopter, IAF C-130J and Mi-17 aircraft, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">two Indian Navy ships, along with civil and state resources and shore-based support units.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Activities Involved<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><b>The sea drill simulated a Mass Rescue Operation<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> following a <\/span><b>concurrent aeronautical and maritime distress emergency<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As part of the scenario, a passenger <\/span><b>aircraft carrying 228 persons ditched<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at sea near Paradip Port, with the fuselage impacting the <\/span><b>container vessel MV Zumba,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> resulting in structural damage and fire.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The exercise involved activation of the <\/span><b>Incident Command Post, firefighting operations<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, helicopter evacuations, deployment of life rafts and air-droppable life rafts, <\/span><b>Jason Cradle and Gemini recovery<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, rescue basket operations and scramble net procedures.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The exercise also included a demonstration of <\/span><b>Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) capability.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pib.gov.in\/PressReleaseDetail.aspx?PRID=2320300&amp;reg=3&amp;lang=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">PIB<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SAREX-2026 is a multi-agency exercise aimed to strengthen maritime safety and rescue operations aligned with \u201cIndia&#8217;s &#8216;SAGAR&#8217;
