{"id":128795,"date":"2026-10-13T13:45:13","date_gmt":"2026-10-13T08:15:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=128795"},"modified":"2026-10-13T13:45:13","modified_gmt":"2026-10-13T08:15:13","slug":"research-development-and-innovation-fund","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/research-development-and-innovation-fund\/","title":{"rendered":"Research Development and Innovation Fund"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Research Development and Innovation Fund Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the Research, Development and Innovation Fund (RDIF) has announced the first cohort of 19 Second Level Fund Managers (SLFMs).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Research Development and Innovation Fund<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a <\/span><b>flagship initiative<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of the Government of India.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It aims to provide <\/span><b>long-term financing or refinancing<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with long tenors at low or nil interest rates to spur <\/span><b>private sector investment in Research Development and Innovation.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Nodal Department:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The Department of Science &amp; Technology (DST).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Governance:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The Governing Board of <\/span><b>Anusandhan National Research Foundation<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (ANRF), chaired by the Prime Minister, will provide overarching strategic direction to the RDI Scheme.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Key Objectives of the Research Development and Innovation Fund<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Encourage the private sector<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to scale up <\/span><b>research, development, and innovation<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (RDI) in sunrise domains and in other sectors relevant for economic security, strategic purpose, and self-reliance;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Finance transformative projects<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at higher levels of Technology Readiness Levels (TRL)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Support acquisition of technologies<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> which are critical or of high strategic importance;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Facilitate setting up of a <\/span><b>Deep-Tech Fund of Funds.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Funding Mechanism of Research Development and Innovation Fund<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Total Budget:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u20b91 Lakh crore<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Implementation Structure<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li><b>Special Purpose Fund (SPF):<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It will be established within the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), which will serve as the <\/span><b>custodian of the \u20b91 lakh crore corpus<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
