{"id":12903,"date":"2026-07-08T11:14:11","date_gmt":"2026-07-08T05:44:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=12903"},"modified":"2026-07-08T14:00:43","modified_gmt":"2026-07-08T08:30:43","slug":"performance-grading-index-pgi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/performance-grading-index-pgi\/","title":{"rendered":"Performance Grading Index"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Performance Grading Index Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the Union Ministry of Education released the Report on Performance Grading Index 2.0 for States\/UTs (PGI-S) and Performance Grading Index for Districts (PGI-D) for 2025-26.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Performance Grading Index<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is an index that <\/span><b>measures the performance of states in school education<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> undertaken by the Department of School Education &amp;Literacy (DoSEL).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">PGI strives to evaluate the <\/span><b>relative performance of all the State\/UTs<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>districts <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">respectively in a uniform scale to encourage them to perform better.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The PGI 2.0 is constructed based on <\/span><b>73 indicators from 2 Categories containing 6 Domains<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Performance Grading Index (PGI ) \u2013 States\/UTs<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is devised by the <\/span><b>Department of School Education &amp; Literacy, Union Ministry of Education.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">evaluates the performance of States and Union Territories by categorizing them into different grades or levels.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Total weightage:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The PGI- States\/UTs structure comprises total weightage of <\/span><b>1000 points<\/b> <b>across 70 indicators.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>It consists of 2 Categories:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Outcome and Governance &amp; Management; comprising six domains:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Learning Outcomes and Quality<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Access<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Infrastructure &amp; Facilities<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Equity<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Governance Processes<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Teachers Education &amp; Training<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The framework is fully aligned with data from the Unified District Information System for Education Plus (UDISE+), <\/span><b>PARAKH Rashtriya Sarvekshan 2024<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, PM POSHAN Portal, PRABAND Portal, and <\/span><b>Vidyanjali Portal.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Performance Grading Index (PGI ) \u2013 Districts<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Objective:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Assessing districts on a common parameter with attention now shifting towards <\/span><b>outcome measurement of educational policies.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Total weightage:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It comprises a total weightage of <\/span><b>600 points across 70 indicators,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> which are grouped under <\/span><b>6 categories<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> viz., Outcomes, Effective Classroom Transaction, Infrastructure Facilities &amp;
