justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Kerala State Biodiversity Board (KSBB) recently launched a pioneering Red List Assessment of Ecosystems (RLE) project, marking a first for any Indian State. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About India&#8217;s first Red List Assessment of Ecosystems (RLE) Project<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is an initiative<\/span><b> launched by Keralam<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which aims to<\/span><b> transform conservation efforts<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from isolated species preservation to<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">proactive, <\/span><b>landscape-wide ecosystem management.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is sanctioned and <\/span><b>funded <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">by the <\/span><b>Kerala State Biodiversity Board (KSBB).<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This initiative marks the <\/span><b>first of its kind for any Indian State.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The project is being executed by the Kerala Forest Research Institute (KFRI) along with MES Asmabi College.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This <\/span><b>two-year initiative <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">will <\/span><b>map and assess<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the <\/span><b>risk of collapse for critical ecosystems <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">across all 14 districts of the state, spanning high-altitude mountain summits, densely populated midlands, and vulnerable coastal stretches.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The study will <\/span><b>utilise <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the <\/span><b>rigorous IUCN Red List of Ecosystems (RLE) framework<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to assess the health and vulnerability of ecosystems.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">By <\/span><b>examining natural habitats across the State<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from forests and rivers to coastal belts, the project will <\/span><b>pinpoint both climate-driven and human-induced threats.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>spatial data<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will <\/span><b>help local governments and planners <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to <\/span><b>make evidence-based decisions
