{"id":13006,"date":"2023-07-11T02:39:08","date_gmt":"2023-07-10T21:09:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=13006"},"modified":"2025-04-01T23:33:21","modified_gmt":"2025-04-01T18:03:21","slug":"what-is-edar-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/what-is-edar-project\/","title":{"rendered":"What is eDAR Project?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About eDAR Project:\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Integrated Road Accident Database (iRAD) \/ e-Detailed Accident Report (eDAR) Project is an initiative of the <strong>Ministry of Road Transport and Highways<\/strong> (MoRTH), Government of India and is <strong>funded by World Bank.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Objective:<\/strong> The project aims to <strong>develop an Integrated Road Accident Database<\/strong> (iRAD), to enrich the accident databases from every parts of the country.<\/li>\n<li>The project would generate various types of insights by analyzing the collected road accident data across the country through implementation of data analytics technique.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>How it works?<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The mobile application will <strong>enable police personnel<\/strong> to enter details <strong>about a road accident, along with photos and videos<\/strong>, following which <strong>a unique ID will be created for the incident.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Subsequently, an engineer from the Public Works Department or the local body will receive an alert on his mobile device.<\/li>\n<li>He or she will then visit the accident site, examine it, and feed the required details, such as the road design.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Data thus collected<\/strong> will be <strong>analysed by a team at IIT-M<\/strong>, which will then suggest if corrective measures in road design need to be taken.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What is the role of World Bank?<\/h3>\n<p>The World Bank&#8217;s primary goal is to reduce poverty and promote sustainable economic development.
