{"id":13030,"date":"2023-07-12T10:46:52","date_gmt":"2023-07-12T05:16:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=13030"},"modified":"2025-04-01T23:45:08","modified_gmt":"2025-04-01T18:15:08","slug":"international-biology-olympiad","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/international-biology-olympiad\/","title":{"rendered":"International Biology Olympiad"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About International Biology Olympiad:\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a biological Olympiad for <strong>pre-university students under the age 20<\/strong>, and is one of the most well-known International Science Olympiads.<\/li>\n<li>The first <strong>IBO was held in Czechoslovakia in 1990,<\/strong> and it has since been held annually.<\/li>\n<li>The competition has gradually expanded to include more than 75 participating countries across five continents.<\/li>\n<li>All participating countries <strong>send the four winners of their National Biology Olympiad<\/strong> to the IBO, usually accompanied by two adults who are members of the international jury, for the duration of the competition.<\/li>\n<li>To select these top four life science contestants for this international competition, all member countries host Biology Olympiad competitions in typically 3-5 consecutively more difficult national competition rounds.<\/li>\n<li>As a consequence, this leads to a trickle-down effect, engaging more than 1 million students worldwide in life science each year.<\/li>\n<li>Every year it is being <strong>organised by different countries<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>India organized this Olympiad in 2008<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What are Olympiads?<\/h3>\n<p>Olympiads are exams that are conducted throughout the country that lets students compete with other students on a similar education level.
