{"id":13104,"date":"2024-05-30T12:20:44","date_gmt":"2024-05-30T06:50:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=13104"},"modified":"2025-04-02T00:22:56","modified_gmt":"2025-04-01T18:52:56","slug":"what-is-k-9-vajra","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/what-is-k-9-vajra\/","title":{"rendered":"What is  K- 9 Vajra?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About K-9 Vajra:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a 155 mm, 52-caliber tracked <strong>self-propelled artillery system<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>It can <strong>fire shells<\/strong> at <strong>great elevation angles<\/strong> to hit targets far away.<\/li>\n<li>It is <strong>built by Larsen &amp; Toubro<\/strong> with <strong>technology transferred from South Korean<\/strong> defence major Hanwha D\u00e9fense <strong>based on its K9 Thunder <\/strong>platform.<\/li>\n<li>It can perform a variety of missions due to its capacity to fire a wide range of artillery ammunition, including high explosive, smoke, and illumination shells.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Features<\/strong>:\n<ul>\n<li>It has all<strong>-welded steel armour<\/strong> up to 19mm thick.<\/li>\n<li>The main weapon is the 155mm \/ 52 calibre gun.<\/li>\n<li>The gun weighs 50 tonnes and can fire 47kg bombs.<\/li>\n<li>It has a <strong>burst rate of fire<\/strong> of <strong>three rounds per 15 seconds<\/strong> and a maximum rate of fire of six to eight rounds per minute for three minutes.<\/li>\n<li>It can <strong>strike enemy targets<\/strong> at around <strong>50 kilometres<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>It can also <strong>turn around at zero radius<\/strong>, basically at the same place where they are standing.<\/li>\n<li>The K9 uses a <strong>digital fire control system<\/strong>, by which it can fire multiple rounds that can impact a given area at the same time.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1: What is K9 Thunder?<\/h3>\n<p>The K9 Thunder is a South Korean Self-Propelled 155 mm Howitzer (SPH) developed by Samsung Techwin and now manufactured by the company Hanwha Land Systems.
