{"id":13117,"date":"2023-07-15T04:26:42","date_gmt":"2023-07-14T22:56:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=13117"},"modified":"2025-04-02T01:46:57","modified_gmt":"2025-04-01T20:16:57","slug":"association-of-world-election-bodies-a-web","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/association-of-world-election-bodies-a-web\/","title":{"rendered":"Association of World Election Bodies (A-WEB)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About Association of World Election Bodies (A-WEB):\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It is the largest association of Election Management Bodies (EMBs) worldwide.<\/li>\n<li>It was <strong>founded in October, 2013<\/strong> in Seoul, Republic of Korea.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Theme of 2023 meeting:<\/strong> \u201cA global view on the challenges of regional elections 2023\u201d.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Vision:<\/strong> The shared vision among its members of <strong>achieving sustainable democracy around the world<\/strong> through the strengthening of the processes of election management in member countries.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<li><strong>Members:<\/strong> It consists of <strong>119 EMBs as Members<\/strong> &amp; 20 Regional Associations\/Organisations as Associate Members.<\/li>\n<li><strong>India is a member<\/strong> of this association and is represented by the Election Commission of India (ECI).<\/li>\n<li>ECI took over as <strong>Chairperson for 2019-22 term<\/strong> and is presently a member of its Executive Board for 2022-24 in its capacity as immediate former Chair of A-WEB.<\/li>\n<li>In India <strong>A-WEB Centre<\/strong> has been <strong>established at New Delhi<\/strong> for documentation and research for sharing the best practices and training and capacity building of officials of A-WEB members.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What is the role of the Election Commission of India ?<\/h3>\n<p>The ECI is responsible for organizing and conducting elections for the offices of the President, Vice-President, Members of Parliament, and Members of State Legislative Assemblies and Councils.
