{"id":131353,"date":"2026-10-31T12:52:32","date_gmt":"2026-10-31T07:22:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=131353"},"modified":"2026-10-31T12:57:33","modified_gmt":"2026-10-31T07:27:33","slug":"national-social-security-board-for-unorganised-workers-and-gig-platform-workers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/national-social-security-board-for-unorganised-workers-and-gig-platform-workers\/","title":{"rendered":"Centre Notifies Social Security Boards for Gig, Platform and Unorganised Workers"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>National Social Security Board for Unorganised Workers and Gig &amp; Platform Workers Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the Ministry of Labour and Employment has notified the constitution of National Social Security Boards for unorganised workers and gig and platform workers.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About National Social Security Board for Unorganised Workers and Gig &amp; Platform Workers \u00a0 <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is established under the statutory framework of the <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/code-on-social-security-2020\/\" target=\"_blank\">Code on Social Security<\/a>.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>Mandate:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The Boards are mandated to <\/span><b>design, monitor, and recommend targeted welfare schemes<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to <\/span><b>bridge the social security gap<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for millions of gig &amp; platform workers alongside traditional unorganised workers.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Composition<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Chairman:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The Boards will be presided over by the <\/span><b>Union Minister for Labour &amp; Employment<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Representatives:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It comprises representatives from <\/span><b>Central and State Governments<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, prominent aggregator companies, employers, civil society organizations, workers&#8217; unions and gig &amp; platform Associations.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Meetings:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It shall meet at least thrice a year.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Functions of National Social Security Board for Unorganised Workers and Gig &amp; Platform Workers<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It <\/span><b>recommends<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to the Central Government for <\/span><b>framing suitable schemes<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for different sections of unorganised workers, gig workers and platform workers;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It advises the Central Government on such matters arising out of the administration of this Code as may be referred to it;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It <\/span><b>monitors such social welfare schemes<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for unorganised workers, gig workers and platform workers as are administered by the Central Government,<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It reviews the record keeping functions performed at the State level;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It also reviews the expenditure from the fund and account; and<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It undertakes other functions as are assigned to it by the Central Government from time to time.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pib.gov.in\/PressReleaseDetail.aspx?PRID=2330299&amp;reg=48&amp;lang=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">PIB<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Ministry of Labour and Employment has notified the constitution of National Social Security Boards for unorganised workers and gig and platform workers under the Code on Social Security.
