the <strong>southwestern part of the U.S. state of Alaska.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It extends about <strong>800 kilometers (500 miles) in a southwest direction<\/strong> from the mainland of Alaska.<\/li>\n<li>It <strong>separates the Pacific Ocean from Bristol Bay<\/strong>, <strong>an arm of the Bering Sea.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Physiography<\/strong>: The peninsula is <strong>largely mountainous<\/strong>, with <strong>numerous active and dormant volcanoes,<\/strong> <strong>rugged coastlines, deep fjords<\/strong>, and vast expanses of wilderness.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Volcanism:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>volcanic Aleutian Range runs along its entire length<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The\u00a0 <strong>Pavlof Volcano<\/strong>, near the peninsula\u2019s southwestern edge, rises to more than <strong>8,260 feet (2,518 metres)<\/strong> and <strong>is the most active volcano<\/strong> in the Aleutian volcanic (Sugpiaq) communities.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It is <strong>sparsely populated<\/strong>, with small <strong>communities<\/strong> <strong>scattered<\/strong> <strong>along its
