text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a grouping of<\/span><b> seven member states lying <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in the <\/span><b>littoral and adjacent areas of the Bay of Bengal.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The organization <\/span><b>came into existence<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on 6 June <\/span><b>1997 through the &#8216;Bangkok Declaration&#8217;.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Membership<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: It is a unique link connecting South Asia with Southeast Asia &#8211;<\/span><b> five Members from South Asia<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (<\/span><b>Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) and <\/span><b>two from South-East Asia (Myanmar and Thailand).\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">BIMSTEC <\/span><b>organizes <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">intergovernmental interactions through <\/span><b>Summits<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>Ministerial Meetings,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Senior Officials Meetings,<\/span><b> Permanent Working Committee, Joint Working Groups,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and Experts Level Meetings,<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The BIMSTEC region brings together 1.7 billion people &#8211; 22% of the world population with a combined GDP of US$ 5 trillion.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Permanent Secretariat: Dhaka<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Bangladesh.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">BIMSTEC has identified <\/span><b>14 priority areas of cooperation<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> where<\/span><b> a member country takes the lead. <\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;
