Thus, the disease was named the Crimean-Congo haemorrhagic fever.<\/li>\n<li>Its outbreak constitute a threat to public health services as the virus can lead to epidemics, has a high case <strong>fatality ratio (10\u201340%).<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Transmission:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Animals such as cattle, goats, sheep and hares serve as amplifying hosts for the virus.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Transmission to humans occurs<\/strong> through contact with infected ticks or animal blood.<\/li>\n<li>It <strong>can be transmitted from one infected human to another<\/strong> by contact with infectious blood or body fluids\u201d, such as sweat and saliva.<\/li>\n<li>The ticks can also be <strong>hosted by migratory birds.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Symptoms of Crimean-Congo Haemorrhagic Fever<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Include fever, muscle ache, dizziness, neck pain, backache, headache, sore eyes and sensitivity to light.<\/li>\n<li>After 2\u20134 days the agitation may be replaced by sleepiness, depression and lassitude<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Treatment of Crimean-Congo Haemorrhagic Fever<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>There is <strong>no vaccine for the virus<\/strong> in either humans or animals, and treatment generally consists of managing symptoms.<\/li>\n<li>According to the WHO, \u201cthe antiviral drug ribavirin has been used to treat CCHF infection with apparent benefit.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What is the significance of the Crimean Peninsula?<\/h3>\n<p>The Crimean Peninsula is a landmass located on the northern coast of the Black Sea.
