{"id":132248,"date":"2026-11-06T13:36:02","date_gmt":"2026-11-06T08:06:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=132248"},"modified":"2026-11-06T13:38:29","modified_gmt":"2026-11-06T08:08:29","slug":"ins-amini","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/ins-amini\/","title":{"rendered":"INS Amini: Indian Navy Receives Indigenous Anti-Submarine Warfare Ship"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>INS Amini Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Indian Navy recently formally inducted &#8216;Amini&#8217;, the fifth of eight Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft (ASW-SWC) being built to strengthen India&#8217;s coastal defence and underwater surveillance capabilities. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About INS Amini<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is the <\/span><b>fifth of eight Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft (ASW-SWC)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> being <\/span><b>built by Kolkata-based Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for the Indian Navy.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The newly launched ASW ships belong to the<\/span><b> Arnala class <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of vessels and <\/span><b>replaced <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the <\/span><b>Abhay class <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of anti-submarine warfare corvettes.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Amini <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">becomes the <\/span><b>119th warship<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> designed and <\/span><b>constructed by <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the defence public sector undertaking <\/span><b>GRSE <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and the 81st delivered directly to the Indian Navy.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Designed for<\/span><b> operations in coastal waters<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, \u2018Amini\u2019 is equipped to undertake comprehensive<\/span><b> subsurface surveillance, search and attack <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">missions, and coordinated <\/span><b>anti-submarine warfare operation<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">s in <\/span><b>conjunction with aircraft.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>INS Amini <\/b><b>Features<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The submarine hunter measures nearly 77.6 metres in length and a <\/span><b>displacement <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of <\/span><b>900 tons.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is powered by <\/span><b>marine diesel engines coupled with waterjets<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, providing enhanced agility and manoeuvrability.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It has a maximum speed of 25 knots (29 miles per hour) and an <\/span><b>endurance <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of approximately 1,800 nautical miles<\/span><b> (2,100 miles).\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With a draught requirement of approximately 2.7 metres, the warship is ideally <\/span><b>suited for littoral operations.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Equipped with an advanced <\/span><b>Combat Management System, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">lightweight <\/span><b>torpedoes<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>anti-submarine warfare rocket<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">s, the warship is capable of detecting, tracking and engaging underwater threats.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It also carries an i<\/span><b>ndigenously manufactured 30 mm naval surface gun <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">developed by GRSE for protection against surface threats.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Its integrated systems will allow it to coordinate with naval aircraft<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">during anti-submarine missions.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>News: <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.indiatoday.in\/india\/story\/indian-navy-inducts-amini-fifth-anti-submarine-warfare-vessel-boost-coastal-security-3033159-2026-11-05\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><b>IT<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>INS Amini, an indigenous anti-submarine warfare craft built by GRSE, was delivered to the Indian Navy on November 5, 2026.
