{"id":13330,"date":"2023-07-22T09:48:01","date_gmt":"2023-07-22T04:18:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=13330"},"modified":"2025-04-02T03:30:14","modified_gmt":"2025-04-01T22:00:14","slug":"logistics-data-bank-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/logistics-data-bank-project\/","title":{"rendered":"Logistics Data Bank Project"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About Logistics Data Bank Project:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>This project was launched on 2016 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Port, Mumbai.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Objectives:<\/strong> The project launched to make India\u2019s logistics sector more efficient through the use of Information Technology.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Implementing Agency:<\/strong> It is being implemented through a Special Purpose Vehicle called <strong>Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor Development Corporation Logistics Data Services Ltd.<\/strong> (DLDSL) &#8211; that is jointly (50:50) owned by the Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) Trust and Japanese IT services major NEC Corporation.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Key features:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Every <strong>container is attached to<\/strong> a <strong>Radio Frequency Identification Tag<\/strong> (RFID) tag and then tracked through RFID readers &#8211; aids <strong>importers and exporters in tracking their goods in transit.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>This has, in turn, cut the overall lead time of container movement as well as reduced transaction costs that consignees and shippers incur.<\/li>\n<li>The project covers \u201cthe entire movement (of containers) through rail or road till the Inland Container Depot and Container Freight Station.<\/li>\n<li>The service <strong>integrates information available<\/strong> with the agencies across the supply chain to provide detailed, real-time information within a single window.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>It is billed as a major \u2018ease of doing business\u2019 initiative aimed at boosting India\u2019s foreign trade and ensuring greater transparency.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Nodal Ministry:<\/strong> Ministry of Commerce and Industry.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What is RFID?<\/h3>\n<p>RFID stands for Radio Frequency Identification. It is a technology that uses radio waves to identify and track objects or individuals automatically.
