


{"id":13413,"date":"2023-07-25T01:43:02","date_gmt":"2023-07-24T20:13:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=13413"},"modified":"2025-04-02T04:10:16","modified_gmt":"2025-04-01T22:40:16","slug":"safdarjung-tomb","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/safdarjung-tomb\/","title":{"rendered":"Safdarjung Tomb"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About Safdarjung Tomb:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Safdarjung Tomb is the <strong>last garden tomb constructed in the late Mughal Empire Style<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li><strong>Location<\/strong>: At the Intersection of Safdarjung Road and Aurobindo Marg, <strong>New Delhi, India.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It was <strong>built in 1753- 54 as a mausoleum of Safdarjung<\/strong>, the viceroy of Awadh under the Mughal Emperor, Mohammed Shah. <strong>It was built by his son, Nawab Shujaud Daula<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Architecture:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Also known as <strong>\u2018Safdarjung ka Maqbara<\/strong>,\u2019 the tomb is <strong>built on a square plan and has a central dome<\/strong> and <strong>is made of marble and sandstone.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The <strong>dome is surrounded by four smaller domes and four minarets<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>exterior of the tomb is decorated <\/strong>with intricate <strong>latticework and calligraphy<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>interior of the tomb is decorated with marble<\/strong> <strong>and gold leaf<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>tomb is surrounded by lush green gardens. <\/strong>The <strong>garden is in the Mughal charbagh garden styl<\/strong>e, and is a <strong>smaller version of the garden of Humayun Tomb<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>\u00a0<\/h3>\n<h3>Who was Safdarjung?<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Safdarjung<\/strong> <strong>(1708 \u2013 5 October 1754<\/strong>), whose full name was Mirza Muqim Abul Mansur Khan, was a <strong>major figure in the Mughal court during the declining years of the Mughal Empire.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>He became the <strong>second Nawab of Awadh<\/strong> when he <strong>succeeded Saadat Ali Khan I <\/strong>(his maternal uncle and father-in-law) <strong>in 1739.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>In 1739, Safdarjung was appointed the Prime Minister of the Mughal Empire<\/strong> by <strong>Emperor Muhammad Shah<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>He <strong>served as Prime Minister for five years<\/strong>, during which time he helped to stabilize the Mughal Empire and to improve its relations with other powers in the region.<\/li>\n<li><strong>After his term as Prime Minister, Safdarjung returned to Awadh<\/strong>, where he <strong>ruled as Nawab for the next 15 years.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>He was a <strong>capable ruler, and he helped to make Awadh one of the most prosperous provinces in the Mughal Empire.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>He <strong>built many mosques, madrasas, and other public buildings in Awadh<\/strong>, and he also supported the arts of music, poetry, and painting.<\/li>\n<li><strong>He died in 1754<\/strong>, and he was buried in Safdarjung Tomb, Delhi.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Q1)\u00a0Where is Humayun Tomb located?<\/p>\n<p>Humayun&#8217;s Tomb is located in Nizamuddin East, Delhi, India.
