{"id":13603,"date":"2023-08-01T05:50:13","date_gmt":"2023-08-01T00:20:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=13603"},"modified":"2025-04-02T05:43:30","modified_gmt":"2025-04-02T00:13:30","slug":"what-is-india-stack","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/what-is-india-stack\/","title":{"rendered":"What is India Stack?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About India Stack:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a set of <strong>Application Programming Interface (APIs)<\/strong> that allows governments, businesses, startups and developers to utilise a <strong>unique digital Infrastructure<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>India Stack consists of <strong>three layers of open APIs<\/strong>: identity, payments, and data.<\/li>\n<li>Although the name of this project bears the word India, the vision of India Stack is not limited to one country.<\/li>\n<li>It can be applied to any nation, be it a developed one or an emerging one.<\/li>\n<li>The four distinct technology layers provided are\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Presenceless layer:<\/strong> Where a universal biometric digital identity allows people to participate in any service from anywhere in the country.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Paperless layer:<\/strong> Where digital records move with an individual&#8217;s digital identity, eliminating the need for massive amount of paper collection and storage.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Cashless layer:<\/strong> Where a single interface to all the country&#8217;s bank accounts and wallets to democratise payments.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Consent layer:<\/strong> Which allows data to move freely and securely to democratize the market for data?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Some of the APIs that are a central part of India Stack: <strong>Aadhaar Proof, Aadhaar e-KYC, e-Sign, Digital Locker, Unified Payment Interface<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The Open API team at iSPIRT has been a pro-bono partner in the development, evolution, and evangelisation of these APIs and systems.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>\u00a0<\/h3>\n<h3>What is API?<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>In the context of APIs, the word <strong>Application refers to any software<\/strong> with a distinct function.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Interface<\/strong> can be thought of as a <strong>contract of service between two applications.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>This contract defines how the two communicate with each other using requests and responses.<\/li>\n<li>Their API documentation contains information on how developers are to structure those requests and responses.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What is Unified Payment Interface?<\/h3>\n<p>Unified Payment Interface (UPI) is a real-time payment system introduced by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) in 2016.
