{"id":13645,"date":"2025-12-07T14:31:17","date_gmt":"2025-12-07T09:01:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=13645"},"modified":"2025-12-08T16:11:57","modified_gmt":"2025-12-08T10:41:57","slug":"infrastructure-investment-trust-invit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/infrastructure-investment-trust-invit\/","title":{"rendered":"Infrastructure Investment Trust (InvIT)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Infrastructure Investment Trust (InvIT) Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, National Highways Authority of India received the Securities and Exchange Board of India\u2019s (SEBI) in-principle approval for \u2018Raajmarg Infra Investment Trust\u2019 (RIIT) as an Infrastructure Investment Trust (InvIT).<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Infrastructure Investment Trust (InvIT)<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is <\/span><b>Collective Investment Scheme<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> similar to a mutual fund, which enables direct investment of money from <\/span><b>individual and institutional<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> investors in infrastructure projects\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These are like mutual funds in structure which can be established as a trust and registered with Sebi.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Objective:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> To provide <\/span><b>retail investors<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with <\/span><b>access to investment opportunities<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in infrastructure projects, which were previously only available to large institutional investors.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Features of the Infrastructure Investment Trust (InvIT)<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An InvIT has 4 parties namely; <\/span><b>Trustee, Sponsor<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(s) and <\/span><b>Investment Manager<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and Project Manager.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">INVITs are <\/span><b>created by sponsors,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> who are typically infrastructure companies or private equity firms.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The sponsor sets up the INVITs and transfers ownership of the underlying infrastructure assets to the trust.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The trust then issues units to investors, which represent an ownership stake in the trust and thus the underlying assets.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While the trustee (certified by Sebi) has the responsibility of inspecting the performance of an InvIT, sponsor(s) are promoters of the company that set up the InvIT.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">InvITs are regulated by <\/span><b>the SEBI (Infrastructure Investment Trusts) Regulations, 2014.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pib.gov.in\/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=2199533&amp;reg=3&amp;lang=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">PIB<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An Infrastructure Investment Trust is a collective investment scheme that allows individuals &#038; institutions to invest directly in infrastructure projects.
