{"id":13654,"date":"2023-08-02T06:40:01","date_gmt":"2023-08-02T01:10:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=13654"},"modified":"2025-04-02T06:09:15","modified_gmt":"2025-04-02T00:39:15","slug":"zarth-app","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/zarth-app\/","title":{"rendered":"ZARTH App"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About ZARTH App<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>ZTF Augmented Reality Transient Hunter ( ZARTH)<\/strong> is built along <strong>the lines of the augmented reality<\/strong> mobile game.<\/li>\n<li>It allows the user to do serious science while playing a game.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Features of ZARTH App<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The app uses <strong>the open-source Sky Map<\/strong> and adds data daily from the Zwicky Transient Facility (ZTF)\u2019s robotic telescope at the <strong>Palomar Observatory in California.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Palomar is also home to one of the oldest, largest, and most powerful telescopes in the world: the 200-inch Hale reflector.<\/li>\n<li>The ZTF scans <strong>the entire northern sky every two days<\/strong> and uses the data to make large area sky maps that have important applications in tracking <strong>near-earth asteroids and studying supernovae<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The app is loaded daily with transients detected in real-time by the ZTF.<\/li>\n<li>The transients include <strong>flaring stars<\/strong> (variable stars that flare up for a short while), <strong>white dwarf binaries<\/strong> (burnt remains of dead stars that orbit one another and often merge and explode in supernovae), active galactic nuclei, and several other types.<\/li>\n<li>The app <strong>ranks transients by their rarity and importance<\/strong>, and players can compete with each other to score points and earn daily credits, which are duly listed on the leaderboards.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>What is a Transients Phenomenon?<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Transients refer to <strong>astronomical phenomena<\/strong> with durations of fractions of a second to weeks or years.<\/li>\n<li>Typically they are <strong>extreme, short-lived events <\/strong>associated with the total or partial destruction of an astrophysical object.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What is White dwarf binaries?<\/h3>\n<p>White dwarf binaries are binary star systems consisting of two white dwarfs orbiting around their common center of mass.
